Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Experts from East and Southeast Asia, Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the Department of Mineral Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, it is my great honor to welcome you to the Second International Symposium on GeoAI Data and the Second Workshop on Natural Hazard Prediction using Big Data and Machine Learning here in Bangkok, Thailand.

As a co-host of this important event, Thailand is honored to bring together experts, researchers, and practitioners from Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) and data-driven methodologies for reducing disaster risks.

This symposium is part of the CCOP - GeoAI Data Society Initiative, which aims to strengthen regional cooperation in applying AI, big data, and geospatial analytics to improve natural disaster forecasting and response. As we know, Southeast Asia is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, such as floods, landslides, and typhoons. By using GeoAI, we can enhance early warning systems, improve spatial prediction models, and optimize disaster management efforts - all essential in building a more resilient region.

Additionally, this event is a key part of the CCOP-KIGAM Natural Disaster Project (2024-2027), which focuses on using big data and machine learning for spatial prediction. By bringing together geoscience, AI, and policy development, we can ensure that technological advancements lead to practical solutions for disaster prevention and mitigation.

I encourage all of you to engage in open discussions, share knowledge, and build partnerships to drive innovation in this field. The Department of Mineral Resources, CCOP, and our partners are committed to supporting these initiatives for sustainable development and stronger disaster resilience across our nations.
